First pictures of molecules breaking and reforming bonds

These are the very first pictures of molecules breaking and reforming bonds, and they were captured using a new method for imaging molecular reactions. Never before had researchers seen molecules before and after reaction in such a detailed way—until now, scientist had only been able to infer this information from spectroscopic analysis.
