Compound that could reduce damage to heart cells

Australian scientists have developed a compound that could reduce damage to heart cells following heart attack, stroke or major surgery, research has found. The compound, named MitoSNO, can enter cells and act in their mitochondria to prevent the damage that occurs when blood supply is restored to tissue that's been starved of oxygen.
